Hurray for the RED, White and Blue

We are a nation most blessed!

As we celebrate the 4th of July let's remember that our freedom comes at a great price....

many are sacrificing their time and even their lives for us to be able to fly such a glorious flag.

We give thanks to God and our troops!

Our flag flies at the corner of our sun  room...right above the rain barrel.

Here in Northern Virginia every thing has been greening up beautifully.

Our cottage is surrounded by wonderfully big oaks. Even on warm days we have the benefit of a great deal of shade from these giants. It is so peaceful sitting outside....sipping my coffee....listening to birdsong....incredibly blessed!

Most of my images in this collage are my own. The ones in the middle are from Blanca at Magic Moonlight Free Images. She is extravagantly generous to share her beautiful images for FREE!

And, of course,

can't miss an opportunity to pull out my red toolbox and red transferware dishes......

Hope you have an incredibly blessed 4th of July!

Audrey

Sideboard Vignette

While pulling my Spring elements together

I could not resist showing you ....one more time... my red dishes before packing them away 'til next year.

The compass was a Christmas gift from Becky, our daughter.

The metal dish holds a fabric rose and a vintage glass knob,

I love the contrast of rustic and glam.

Mixing bowls hold red dishes.

Cardinal in a silver compote under a glass dish.

The Coffee Shop has this wonderful instant colorbar storyboard available. You can take color samples from any picture to create a custom color chart!

Will be showing you my sideboard.... all ready for Spring.......... next week.

If you did not have an opportunity to follow me on the Linky I hope you will!

Hope you are having a wonderful week.

 Blessings, Audrey

Red Toolbox Vignette

We found this pretty red toolbox at one of our local fleas. It was already red when we bought it...have considered painting it numerous times....never have.

Can you see what it was made out of?

An apricot crate! Didn't they do a wonderful job crafting this beauty?

I put a piece of grey wool on our sideboard,

centered the old heavy silver tray,

then loaded the toolbox with white roses and red plates.

Mixing rustic with silver is exceptionally pretty.

If you haven't followed me yet on the Linky Follower, please do. I know it is a royal pain, don't really understand all the stuff about Google! Let me know in the comment section and I will gladly follow you back.

Hope you are having a fantastic week!

I Heart Red Dishes

As you may already know this it still bears repeating.

I LOVE RED dishes! And clocks and Natural element like the moss in the cup above.

Hope you aren't tired of seeing RED, because I have only just gotten started with my RED posts.

I Adore Red....red plates, platters, saucers...

Thanksgiving has come and gone. It is time to drag all of our Christmas decor out of all of my hidey holes.

Our granddaughters reached up in the top of the guest room closet and pulled the boxes down for me. It is always more fun doing things when they are helping me.

I started pulling out the red dishes last week and sorting them. I will be posting pictures of the vignettes that I come up with later this week. Playing with different ideas of how to place them is relaxing for me.

I am so glad my Sweetheart enjoys my 'playing'! Things get a little chaotic when things are strung from one end of the house to another.

Red is one of my all time favorite colors....I love RED!

The transferware pattern is Mason and is from England. The little bowl was made in USA by Homer Laughlin.

Hope you enjoyed looking at them.

Remember in all the rush of the season to take time to be still. My favorite scripture says "Be still and know I am God".
It is difficult this time of the year  to do that. Take time to enjoy the simple pleasures that are given to you each and every day.

Thank you to the wonderful Deborah at Common Ground for featuring me here and to the sweet like her name Honey at 2805 for featuring me here. Both are so generous to host blog parties each and every week. If you have not linked to Deborah's Vintage Inspiration or Honey's Potpourri Party give it a try.
