Fall Decorations....the Dining Room

Fall decor is spilling over into the dining room!

Our dining, living, and kitchen areas are all one open space....which works really well for decorating.

We painted the walls a rich yummy color,
Hot Cider Toddy, about 5 years ago.
Still love the color....sometimes we discuss painting an update....look at each other and say....nunhuh!

The table covering is actually a drapery panel from Dollar General [$5]....impervious to spills. When the Grands get hot chocolate or paint on it .....in the washer....then dryer....comes out great!

My centerpiece vignette is layered on an old silver serving tray [flea market $4].

The chalk ware rooster was another flea buy [$3].

The Spode plate was a gift. [It is a beauty isn't it].

My maternal Grandmother picked up the sweet hunting dog overseas somewhere. Doesn't he look good in front of the hunting plate!

The ivy is in a wire basket [both from Michael's]

An amber faceted glass decanter is also in the wire basket behind the plate....the view from the back should be pretty, too!

Because it is on a tray the entire vignette can be moved quite easily!

Our buffet gets a lot of use during the holidays, so I leave room for all the different deserts that are going to be placed here. The drawers store loads of things, will maybe show you in a later post how this room doubles as an art studio as well.

Acorns, collected on one of our strolls thru the woods, make a beautiful surround for this birdhouse. Our family is in the habit of collecting things from nature. When you incorporate these treasures into your decor they bring incredible beauty and great memories as well!

This summer has been very eventful....June was great......started a lot of projects. [we are never smart enough to start one at a time...... that would be too easy]

July started out okay....mid way though....not so good.

One of our projects involved a roof, my sweetheart fell off the ladder....fractured his lower spine...herniated a disc....much pain! He is a very determined individual and is doing all his therapy...still lots of pain.

My brother passed away the end of July....very, very sad....

There were a few other challenges....won't bore you w/ details....we make plans....and life changes them...we can stop....throw a pity party....or go on....

I choose to go on....things change...life changes...people change...One thing remains the same.

God is Faithful! Jesus is My Strong Tower....sooo thankful!

"THE NAME OF THE LORD IS A STRONG TOWER
THE RIGHTEOUS RUNS INTO IT...AND IS SAFE & SECURE"Proverbs 18:10

Whatever the challenges you face...... don't give up!

 There will come a change!

Just as the new season is upon us, there will be a new season in your life, too!

Embrace it!

Hi, Audrey! I think this is my first time visiting your blog. I try so hard to get to every single post on TT each week, but because I get interrupted by life it is very possible that I miss a few! :-) I am sorry to hear of your brother's passing. My brother was killed in a senseless motorcycle wreck about 12 years ago, and I still think about him all the time. I empathize with your husband as I suffer with back problems from a broken cocyx and herniated discs. I've been dealing with it for about 15 years, and I STILL have to go to physical therapy! I hate taking pain pills, so I just suffer through it most of the time. Like you said, life changes your plans and then you just throw yourself a little pity party (with a beautifully designed table and fabulous food, of course!) and then move on. Great idea with the drapery panel!!! Also a wonderfully practical idea to assemble your centerpiece on a moveable tray! Enjoy your weekend!

I love the war rich color in your home. I often use a tray or something moveable for a centerpiece because our table is so multipurpose. Thanks for the inspiration and reminder to keep going no matter the changes that come in to our lives. God never changes. I enjoyed my visit with you today.
