Make Your Own Desktop Accessories

You can make you own desktop accessories
out of items you might throw away.
Most of you are like me....
you hate to throw away coffee cans,
bottles and jars.
Why fill our landfills with things that can be recycled?

I spray painted two coffee cans with a light pink....
 inside and out.
A Snapple bottle lid, a Smucker's jar and lid was sprayed a deep pink.
The lace on the Snapple bottles was white before I wrapped it around the salsa jar and sprayed it deep pink, too!
Be patient for at least a day and let all the stuff you sprayed dry really well.
Next take the lace off the jar and wrap it around the bottle and step back!
Now isn't that so pretty?

Wrap the coffee cans in coordinating fabrics or paper if you like.
I played with the wording on mine. I wrote the words, then sewed them on my machine to look like scribbled doodles.

You can cover a book with your fabric and embellish with a doily....
no one will have a desktop like yours. That is one of the beauties of crafting!
Your creation is uniquely yours.

This wire basket came from the Dollar General all simple and plain....
Scraps of lace and ribbon, pieces of tulle and rick rack make it much prettier.

I covered a bit of cardboard with pink toile and made pins out of yo-yo's.
The cutie in the Dollar General frame is our grandson.

Hope I have inspired you to make your own desktop accessories....let me see them when you do....

Have an awesome week!
 Blessings, Audrey

Soft Pink Header to Fluff up the Place

In an effort to fluff up the place I chose to put a soft,

 pink,

barely there header up. My inspiration was the Anthropology look- soft, dreamy and kind of Springy.

Found this picture on Microsoft's images. They have a wide selection of free images.

Pretty borders.

Illustrations.

To get that barely there soft wispy look I used a mask from Manu. So pretty!

Then by dialing the opacity back to 80% the picture really softened.

Last of all I saved it as a png. file.

What do you think? Do you like?

What are some of the things you are doing to get thru winter?

Blessings, Audrey

Pink Saturday Kisses

My Sweetheart
and our youngest granddaughter
over Thanksgiving Weekend.

So sweet!

Liyah's favorite color is PINK!

I edited the picture using Photo Shop Elements
Then layered a pink and black harlequin print.
I used my crinkled paper brush to give texture to the background.
Used King and Queen font to spell a line of Joy Noel.
Used another font only smaller to run a line under the first text.
Merged the two text lines, sized them across the top of the card.
Press ctr-j to make 4 copies of the text.
Move them to form a frame.
Dropped a glitter frame and then loose glitter.
Placed a button dove in top corner.
Changed the picture to black and white.

In The Pink of Things

Pink is such a delicious color, but I don't use it very often. It seems too feminine and Springy to use in the cooler months. But this year  I will use it more often! Pink is so very cheerful that I am going to Think Pink!

Isn't this little pink rosebud teacup just the sweetest little thing?
Cheerful, dainty, pretty....what is not to love?

So I am thinking pink cheerful thoughts with my pink rosebud teacup!
