I've Got A Notion

As a matter of fact...I've got quite a few notions! Some I have collected, some my Mom has collected and some my Grandmother collected. I come from a long line of hoarders, hmmm, I mean, collectors.

 Threads, buttons, lace...

they are so pretty....

then when I combine them with dishes and fabric...

and group these little gems by color....

BLISS!!!!

Throw in a silk hat and a dish or two and pretty soon you have yourself a vignette.

 Can't forget to add some more of my favorite fonts...

all can be found for free at dafont.

Spring Blossoms in Virginia

Spring is blossoming quite nicely here in Northern Virginia. I captured these gorgeous blossoms this week in our garden. Aren't they glorious against the blue sky?

The colors are so pretty on Coffee Shop's Colorbar!

Used them again in some of my favorite fonts from dafont.

A Little Bird Told Me

A Little Blue Bird told me!

Well...truth be told, it was actually a little bluebird teapot  told me...

 " You have GOT to take me home with you!"

 Of course I agreed! After all who could possibly resist the cuteness of this little guy.

See him sitting there in all his glory on top of that gorgeous grey cabbage.

Now ....

you tell me....

could you have said,

 "NO, I won't take you home with me!"

I didn't think so.

Thankfully he didn't cost very much!

Does this ever happen to you? 

Happens to me quite a lot!

So, if you see a short lady having a conversation with a teapot....

or numerous other things I tend to collect.....

it's ok....

don't even bother to try to intervene!

Haha....it's just me talkin' to the bluebird!

Spring Fonts and Graphics

Spring may not be here officially,

 but my thoughts are definitely turned in that direction.

 What a good time to share some of my favorite sources for FREE fonts and graphics. I use Adobe Photoshop Elements. It isn't anywhere near the expense of Photoshop and is a LOT easier to learn.

 So, for me, win-win situation!

The fonts on the following lists are all from dafont.Some are repeated because I was having fun playing with them. Click on each image to enlarge and then download for your own reference.

I am sure you have heard about the wonderfully generous Graphic's Fairy. If you can't find what you are looking for on her site then you probably don't need it, just kidding! She even gives opportunity for you to show and demonstrate how you used her graphics. Loads of inspiration to be found. Warning! Do not look at her site late at night! That is, unless you don't have to get up the next day.

Have you checked  Dover Publishing! They have an awe inspiring amount of books that you can buy that come with a CD. They have gorgeous pictures to use for every thing you can imagine. Did you know that they give free samples every week? While you look at the books you can buy click on the free sample and download to your computer. If you like the samples then order that book. You are under no obligation to buy.

Need help installing new fonts?

 Stephanie at Lovely Little Snippets has a very clear tutorial you can check out. While you are there take time to see her favorite font collections. Careful now...you might become addicted. Fonts are like that! Just like Tribbles of Star Trek fame. They multiply!!!

Here's My Heart

I found these gorgeous heart buttons still attached to their original card. Aren't they beautiful? Not willing to let well enough alone, I glued them to a piece of fabric and framed these little beauties!

 There they are on my desk...so sweet.

 I love red and baskets...so...when I saw this little red sewing basket....it was coming home with me.

See how soft and faded the inside is? There were several cards of buttons inside. I wonder who loved this little basket before I found it?
