Cottage Day Lilies

Day lilies are such simple, easy going plants.
They don't need to be watered, deadheaded or anything. They just grow and look beautiful....my kind of plant.

I think they are the epitome of cottage living.

Several clumps of day lilies were planted around our little cottage in the woods by the original owner.
I love them!

We are building a storage area here to house garden tools and a safe place for our outdoor kitties to eat their kibble. We planted this clump of lilies after adding a mudroom/laundry/porch.

Don't they make you glad.....just looking at them?

I put together a collage of other orange items in our cottage-marigolds, onions, a rooster, quiche, a teacup and of course....an orange.

Here are two versions of collages that you can print.
One w/o text and the other one I titled 'Orange You Glad?'
I know...kind of corny, but that's how I roll...[smile]
Looking at our lilies made me think about the scripture in Matthew 6.
I call it the DO NOT WORRY verses:

Do Not Worry about your life... See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you... But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow.....Matthew 6 [niv]

Worry just takes all of the glad out of our lives and what good does it do?
None what- so- evah! If worries are taking the glad away in your life try giving them to your Heavenly Father. He does love you and He does care!
 Let the glad back in.

Hi Audrey! This is Melissa @ daisymaebelle.com. The lilies are beautiful and such a beautiful reminder of how the Lord takes care of us! If only I could live those words in Matthew every day! Life to the full to you today! I am your newest follower!

Just the uplifting advice I needed today! Truly, worry can take hold and take over sometimes....I need to remind myself to give it up to Him. As for the day lillies, they're the official flower of our village (town). The Garden Club wants everyone to plant some in their yard. Lucky for me, there were already some planted when we moved in!

Love your lilies, Audrey! Lilies are my favorite kind of flower, including day lilies! Your orange ones remind me of my tiger lilies, which usually don't bloom until mid-July. Can't wait to see them! Thanks for sharing the encouraging verses, too! Great reminder about worry. . . one thing I often struggle with.

We are daylily fans here too! Carefree, random, and pretty. I do cut off the dead stems though. Do you have trouble with your colored lilies diverting back to the original color? Love your pretty collages! Following!
