Winter Sideboard

It's okay, you can call me lazy if you want.

When I decorate with my red dishes they stay out until after Valentine's Day.

  1.  So I try to put all the basic layers down first.
  2.  Then the Christmassy items go in.
  3.  After Christmas the top layers are stored away and we are good to go for the rest of winter.
  4. Easy Peasy!

I like a layered, natural look that is non-structured.

We bought this sideboard a few years ago when an antique dealer was closing shop. The runner is made out of an old remnant of gold fabric.
I love Audubon prints and cardinals are especially pretty in the winter.

Life is too short and stressful to be fussing over a lot of things that aren't going to matter a hill of beans ten years from now. So relax, fix things the way you like them. Step back...call it finished...and enjoy your family and friends.

Come back later in the week and I will show the Christmas layer....or I might not even get around to adding that layer....

I have been experimenting with different fonts. Blogger has a bunch to choose from. What do you think about this one? Keep it or go back to a plain one?
What do you think?

I'm loving red again--it goes with all my neutrals in the house and for Christmas I have to do the red thing; I love your transferware--my favorite in reds or browns. Can't wait to see your Christmas deco--you have to do it now (lol); have a great weekend!

I'm with you on layering and leaving the reds until Valentines Day. I'll be showing my Christmas decorating next week at the Blog Party.
I just did a post and awarded you the Liebster Blog Award. You can see what to do on my website.
Happy Decorating,
Barb

Your sideboard looks delightful; it's a beautiful piece and make a wonderful "stage". And I like that idea of just adding a Christmas layer and then switching it out. Since I've redone my kitchen with red accents this year, I'll be trying out things in new places this Christmas season. But I'm keeping the idea of not stressing over it in mind - well, I'll try anyway.

Hi Audrey, I am following you right back (thought I already followed?) Anyhoo, love your buffet, layered look, and the rabbit picture is just over the top awesome! If I had red dishes, I would leave them until Valentines Day also. Looking forward to more of your blog.

Your sideboard is beautiful and I love the "unstructured" way you decorated it. I need to learn the art of your unstructured look. I don't blame you for leaving your red pieces out all winter. They're so pretty.
Happy Wednesday.
